From the violation of federal trucking regulations to an inattentive truck driver, there are many factors that contribute to the prevalence of semi truck crashes. When someone is involved in a semi truck accident that took place in Pikeville, or any other community in Kentucky, they may suffer serious injuries or lose their life. Truck crashes are a widespread problem across the United States and these accidents, some of which should have been prevented, continue to claim an unacceptable number of lives.
Authorities in Tennessee are looking for a truck driver from Kentucky who was recently charged in a deadly accident that occurred in Chattanooga. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation recently added the man to a top 10 list of their most wanted criminals.
The truck driver was driving an 18-wheeler in June when he collided with a number of vehicles that had come to a stop in an I-75 construction zone. The collision claimed six lives and the trucker is now facing an assortment of charges, including vehicular manslaughter, speeding, driving while under the influence and reckless aggravated assault.
Unfortunately, there are different reasons why semi truck collisions can be even more deadly than other types of traffic crashes. From the significant size of a truck to the demanding schedules that sometimes cause truck driver fatigue, large trucks can be especially dangerous on the roads. When someone is involved in a semi truck accident caused by the negligence of another, they may want to consider speaking to a legal professional and filing a lawsuit.
